Glad Rags

Glad Rags is an Australian children's comedy television series which screened on the Nine Network in 1995 and was broadcast on CBBC in the United Kingdom. The series was written by Trevor Todd and consisted of around thirteen 24 minute episodes.

Plot/premise[]

A half-hour children's drama series about 13-year-old Lizzie Forbes who lives with her mother above their costume hire shop "Glad Rags". When a crooked property developer tries to take over their building, Lizzie and her young neighbours outwit him at every turn.

Children's drama series about a young girl living above a costume hire shop in a busy modern city. Lizzie has a vivid imagination. She loves dressing up and fancies herself as an actress...a spy...or a detective. She always believes the worst of the customers in her mother's shop and comes to bizarre conclusions as to why they are hiring costumes.

Lizzie's adventures lead to a fast-paced, funny and at times hilarious television series that's ideal for the whole family.

Episodes[]

Episode 1 - Peabody: Lizzie is responsible for the headmaster of an exclusive girls' school being arrested, mistaking him for a bank robber. When the mistake is revealed Lizzie makes herself scarce as the police and her mother try to find her. Meanwhile, crooked property developer Graeme M Marsden and his dim-witted assistant, Lance, discuss plans for the new Cafe L.A. to be built on the Glad Rags site.

Episode 2 - Oh Baby: Lizzie jumps to the conclusion that a scruffy man is stealing a baby outside Glad Rags. Dressed in a frog costume, she gives chase. Lizzie manages to grab the pram in a shopping arcade and race off with it with the scruffy man in hot pursuit. Lizzie gets back to Glad Rags and all is revealed as everyone arrives, including the police.
